Article scientifique 2026 Autre

Résumé

INTRODUCTION Tobacco use commonly begins during adolescence and remains a major preventable cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide.School based education is a core component of global and national tobacco control strategies, yet evidence on adolescents' exposure to tobacco education in many low-and middle-income countries remains limited. This study assessed the prevalence of, and factors associated with, learning about the harmful effects of tobacco use among adolescents in Zambia.METHODS This study used data from the 2021 Zambia Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS), a nationally representative, school-based cross-sectional survey of adolescents aged 11-17 years. The outcome was self-reported learning about the harmful effects of tobacco use in school within the past 12 months.Explanatory variables included sociodemographic characteristics, tobacco-related behaviors, social influences, and environmental exposures.Analyses accounted for the complex survey design using sampling weights.Weighted prevalence estimates were calculated, and multivariable logistic regression was used to identify factors independently
