P-multipliers of Piled Raft Foundations Subjected to Lateral Loading Using F LAC3D
Résumé
Abstract This study aims at studying the interactions that exist in Piled raft foundations subjected to lateral load using more rigorous computer-based methods. A numerical method using a finite-difference based software F LAC3D was used. The study was conducted using a large strain mode of analysis. For checking, whether the model developed was in good accuracy, a centrifuge model test was used to validate the study. The interfaces between the soil and the structural elements were modeled by providing the interface deformation and strength properties. The structural elements (piles and rafts) are assumed to act in the linear elastic range and hence, an elastic isotropic constitutive model was used. However, the Mohr-Coulomb elastic perfectly plastic model is used to model the soil materials. P-multipliers of piled rafts for pile spacing of 3D and 5D were computed. The pile spacings were varied in two directions and it was observed that the pile spacing in the direction transverse to the loading direction does not affect pile-pile interactions. Application of vertical load to piled rafts subjected to lateral load decreases the lateral displacement of piles subjected to lateral load significantly.
