Integrating Petrophysical Characterization and Reservoir Evaluation of the Kafr ELSheikh Formation in Sapphire Field, Nile Delta, Egypt.
Résumé
Abstract This study aims to comprehensively examine the petrophysical parameters of the Kafr Elsheikh formation, utilizing iso-parametric maps to analyze key reservoir characteristics, including effective porosity, shale content, net-pay thickness, permeability, hydrocarbon saturation, and water saturation across lateral sections. The primary focus is on four wells—Sapphire 1, Sapphire-Da, Sapphire-Deep 1, and Sapphire-Dh—subjected to a meticulous suite of well logs such as gamma ray, caliper, density, neutron, and resistivity, recorded in Las files. The objective is to evaluate the reservoir potential and developmental trajectory of the Sapphire Field. Findings from the well logging data underscore the exceptional reservoir potential of the Kafr Elsheikh formation, exhibiting effective porosity ranging from 14–34%, water saturation fluctuating between 15% and 45%, gas saturation spanning from 55–85%, and net pay thickness extending from 0.46 m to around 23.8 m. Lithological identification techniques confirm a composite composition of sandstone and shale within the formation. The developmental trajectory of the Sapphire Field indicates discernible increases in effective porosity and hydrocarbon saturation towards the central and northwest-southeast directions, respectively. Notably, Sapphire Da emerges as the most promising well, showcasing an 85% saturation, a 29% effective porosity, and a substantial net pay thickness of 14.04 m. This study highlights the considerable hydrocarbon reserves in the Kafr Elsheikh formation and advocates for additional exploratory and development wells to optimize productivity. The insights derived from iso-parametric maps serve as a valuable resource for future exploration and development endeavors within the Sapphire Field.
