Digital Transformation for Quality Education: A Systematic Review of ICT Contributions to SDG 4
Résumé
This paper explored the role that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can play in the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) which aims at ensuring inclusive, equitable, and quality education and lifelong learning opportunities to everyone. The given paper is premised on the analysis of the literature that has been issued in 2019-2024 in substantial scholarly databases and policy reports. The review examined how ICT can enhance access to education, facilitate pedagogical innovation, and facilitate personalized learning with the help of e-learning, mobile learning, virtual learning environments, gamification, and learning systems that are driven by artificial intelligence. The results show that ICT has a lot of potential in terms of enhancing learning opportunities and learning outcomes. Nevertheless, the review has also determined significant challenges, such as ongoing digital inequalities, inadequate digital competencies among teachers, limited infrastructure, and ethical issues with artificial intelligence in education. The analysis finds that ICT is crucial in promoting SDG 4, but there is still a need to deal with infrastructure, capacity building, and policy implementation issues to achieve sustainable and equitable educational growth.
