Review of: "Unraveling Populism: Senator Fraser Anning and the Australian Political Landscape"

Potential competing interests: No potential competing interests to declare.I commend the author of this treatise on the structural configurations, logicality, and sequentiality in the arrangement of thought on the issue of the political juggernaut (Senator Fraser) as portrayed by the author.The work connotes an exposé into the political philosophy and exploits of Senator Fraser.Also, the efforts of the author of this treatise in terms of the embroidery and choice of words in explaining some issues relating to the subject matter are commendable.However, the following are my observations and suggestions:The author did not examine other literature on the subjects of populism and economic nationalism to interrogate the subject matter in light of Senator Fraser's 'versions' of populism and economic nationalism.This makes the work journalistic.This work is like a replica of a particular erstwhile work of the author of this treatise due to a particular reference that is amplified throughout the work.This limits the author to comprehensively analyse issues that are germane to the subject matter.The nexus of Anning's political awakening revolved around his encounters with the then-emerging figure of Pauline Hanson.-This assertion demands a critical examination of the political philosophy of Pauline Hanson and clearly shows the area(s) of confluence or intersection with that of Senator Anning.The author needs to lucidly show the features that create an ambience of political affinity in the political ideologies of the two politicians.The alignment of their views on economic self-determination and skepticism toward unchecked immigration marked the beginning of a cooperative relationship that would later evolve into pivotal political involvementthe author needs to expatiate on this, perhaps, by showing the readers the views of the duo on economic selfdetermination and skepticism before establishing their confluence.What are the features of the economic selfdetermination and skepticism they uphold?One Nation party -what are the characteristics of this party that incidentally influenced the political identity of the senator?This implies that there are some issues on which the author still needs to seriously engage literature.This will be used to establish the gap in terms of the peculiarities that differentiate the politician from his colleagues. Economic Nationalism -what does it connote in this treatise?There is a need for conceptual clarification of this phrase and to show contextual meaning in terms of the political ideology of the Senator.This schism underscored the dynamic and often unpredictable nature of populism as a political force, where internal coherence may be challenged by strong personalities and divergent agendas -what are the characteristics that make populism unpredictable?There should be evidence that could warrant this assertion.
