The Impact of Job Enrichment on Employee Engagement: Insights from Algerian Economic Organizations
Résumé
Purpose: The study explored how job enrichment impacts employee engagement in Algerian economic organizations. Design/Method/Approach: The study used a quantitative descriptive-analytical method, surveying 876 employees from Algerian organizations and analyzing data with SPSS to explore the impact of job enrichment on engagement. Findings: The study revealed high job enrichment levels (mean: 3.87–4.18) and strong employee engagement (mean: 3.74–4.53), reflecting motivating and committed workplaces. A significant positive correlation (R = 0.857, α ≤ 0.05) confirmed that job enrichment enhances engagement. Additionally, personal and job-related factors showed no significant differences in engagement (α ≤ 0.05), indicating consistent responses across diverse employee characteristics. Theoretical Implications: The study reinforces job enrichment and engagement theories by confirming their strong positive relationship in Algerian organizations, adding unique empirical evidence. Practical Implications: Job enrichment strategies, like autonomy and skill variety, significantly boost employee engagement (R = 0.857), enhancing motivation across diverse employees, particularly in Algerian organizations. Originality/Value: This study stands out for its original empirical investigation of how job enrichment drives employee engagement in Algerian organizations, a rarely examined context. Using data from 876 employees, it provides new evidence confirming the practical relevance of job enrichment theory in real organizational settings. Research Limitations/Future Research: While recognizing the contextual and methodological limitations, this study advances management theory by elucidating how job enrichment enhances employee engagement. It further lays the groundwork for future research exploring mediating and contextual factors such as autonomy, leadership, and organizational dynamics.
