Comparative Evaluation of Boswellia sacra versus NaOCl and Ethylene DiamineTetraaceticAcid (EDTA) as root canal irrigant on Dentine Microhardness and Smear Layer Removal : An in vitro study v1
Résumé
This in vitro study aims to comparatively evaluate 0.135% Boswellia sacra, 2.5% sodium hypochlorite followed by 0.135% Boswellia sacra, and 2.5% sodium hypochlorite followed by 17% EDTA as root canal irrigants. Thirty single-rooted human teeth with single canals will be randomly allocated into three groups (n=10/group). Dentin microhardness will be assessed using the Vickers microhardness test, while smear layer removal will be evaluated by scanning electron microscopy using Hülsmann’s scoring system and digital ImageJ analysis. The study will determine the potential of low-concentration Boswellia sacra as a biocompatible alternative irrigant while assessing its effects on dentin microhardness and smear layer removal.
