Critical Determinants of Delivery Care Services and Socio-economic Factors for Reducing Maternal Mortality in Tanzania.

Abstract Objective:This study examined critical determinants of delivery care services and socio-economic factors in health facilities to reduce MMR in the Tanzanian context. Methods: The study used 2015-16 Tanzania Demographic and Health Survey and Malaria Indicator Survey as well as the 2012 Tanzania Population and Housing Census data. SPSS software version 25 was used to generate multiple linear regression model between the dependent variable and their respective independent variables. Results: The study shows MMR was significantly positively related to percentage of women who were assisted by nurses and midwife during delivery, who deliver by caesarean section decided after onset of labor pains and those who complete just primary education, while MMR was negatively related to percentage of women exposed to family planning through doctor or nurse and regional GDP per capita. Conclusions: The conclusion was that MMR was significantly positively related to the percentage of women who are assisted by nurses and midwives during delivery, who delivered by caesarean section decided after the onset of labor pain and those who complete just primary education, while MMR was significantly negatively related to the percentage of women exposed to family planning through doctors or nurses and regional GDP per capita.
