Potential competing interests: No potential competing interests to declare.This article is well written and covers a significant topic.Rural tourism and its importance of local economies globall y is often under studied and rarely given the attention it deserves.The objective of this article intended to plug such a gap in Norh Carolina , and the presentation of such is very commendable.The historical and literature background is very well covered, and will make for easy reading for those that don't have much of a tourism background.The Methodology used is unique, modern and impressive!!The only weakness detected is the recency of References used in this article.There are very few articles that are post 2020.Finally, this article is written professionally, is well researched and presented, and covers a distinct topic.
