Potential competing interests: No potential competing interests to declare.This article examines the importance of taking into account the systemic approach in the drug treatment of mental illness.It has long been recognised that in living organisms, and particularly in humans, where social and epigenetic factors are so prevalent, linear causality is not enough.The best example is the health problems associated with weaning and its behavioural consequences.I support the publication of this article.
