Adsorption of Methylene Blue on A Polymeric Matrix of Poly Lactic Acid/Sodium Alginate/Carbon Nanoparticles (PLA/SA/CNP)

Résumé

Abstract This study presents the preparation of Poly lactic acid/Sodium alginate (PLA/SA) and PLA/SA/CNP beads for the methylene blue (MB) adsorption. A Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) characterized the produced adsorbent. The various dosages of CNP content were added to PLA/SA beads. The percentage of adsorbed dye increased with increasing CNP content, so the optimum percentage is 5%wt. The beads' adsorption capacity and removal efficiency was investigated as a function of (adsorbent dosage, contact time, initial pH, and concentration of adsorbate). The highest rate of the adsorptive removal process for MB dye was found at pH 9 after 120 min equilibration time with 50mg of PLA/SA/CNP beads. Langmuir and Freundlich's models were applied for the illustration of experimental data. Langmuir models illustrate that the maximum adsorption capacity equals 304.88mg/g.
