General Oncology Care in Mauritania

Résumé

Abstract As in most African countries, cancer is rapidly becoming a public health problem in Mauritania due to the lack of financial resources, scarcity of skilled health workers, and prevalence of inherent risk factors. Efforts are undertaken by the government to ease the burden of this disease on the local population. In this chapter, we present the history and milestones of oncology in Mauritania, the attempts by the state to fight cancer progression and the prospect of these actions.
