Sulfamic acid catalyzed facile synthesis of Arylmethyleneisoxazolone derivatives

Abstract Graphical Abstract Abstract The ixoxazolone derivatives have biological properties such as fungicide and herbicide and pharmacological activities such as anti-tumor, antimicrobial, antiviral and muscle relaxants. They are also used for the treatment of cerebrovascular disorders and as muscle relaxants. For these reasons, we propose a new, highly efficient method for the synthesis of 3-methyl-4-arylmethylidene-isoxazol-5 (4H)-ones by a three-component reaction between aromatic aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate and hydroxylamine hydrochloride, catalyzed by sulfamic acid as inexpensive catalyst, commercially available and easy to handle.
