Landslide Modeling Using GIS and a Statistical Method Upstream of Port Tangier Med (TANGER, Morocco)
Résumé
Abstract The Tangier Mediterranean port (Northern Morocco) is exposed to a significant danger of landslides upstream. On a test site of 193 km², 277 landslides were recorded, or about 11% of the total area. This study was conducted to examine the risk of landslide upstream of the Med II port (northern Rif) using the method of informative values. The results made it possible to identify five different risk classes, ranging from low to nil in unbuilt areas, to very high in developed areas on mountain slopes. The results also reveal that nearly 31% of the total surface is highly susceptible to mass movements, while 22% is very sensitive and 23.3% presents a low threat. These results were compared and critically validated using the construction of success rate curves and predictions.
