Résumé

Potential competing interests: No potential competing interests to declare. This paper is helpful in understanding the pitfalls faced by mediation in the case of complex conflicts. The different attempts at solving the Syrian conflict and the different approaches followed by the mediators are well-explained as well as the reasons for their failed attempts. What I find missing is a clearer explanation of what sets this study apart from the other studies on mediation of the Syrian conflict.
