The influence of dental fluorosis on shear bond strength: a systematic review protocol
Résumé
Introduction: Dental fluorosis, a developmental condition resulting from excessive fluoride intake, is characterized by enamel hypomineralization that may compromise the integrity of the tooth surface. This systematic review aims to investigate the influence of dental fluorosis on the shear bond strength of dental adhesive systems. The findings will inform clinical recommendations for treating fluorosis-affected teeth. Methods: A comprehensive search of electronic databases will be conducted, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library. The search strategy will be designed to identify all relevant in vitro studies published on this topic. Two independent reviewers will screen titles and abstracts, followed by a full-text review of potentially eligible articles. We will include studies that evaluate the shear bond strength of dental materials on teeth with varying degrees of dental fluorosis. The risk of bias of the included studies will be assessed using a validated tool, and a pre-defined data extraction form will be used to collect key information. A narrative synthesis of the findings will be performed, and if sufficient data and homogeneity are present, a meta-analysis will be conducted to pool the results. Discussion: The results of this systematic review will synthesize the current evidence regarding the effect of dental fluorosis on shear bond strength. This protocol follows the recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) guidelines. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for clinicians on the selection of appropriate bonding techniques and materials for fluorosis-affected teeth.
