Prevalência de HPV e atipias relacionadas em mulheres do estado do Piauí

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted disease and is closely related to cervical cancer, being most often its causative agent. Cervical cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women. In addition, HPV is also related to the development of tumors in the vulva, penis and also in the anus. Thus, the present study aimed to assess the frequency of the main cell atypias of the female genital tract that affected these women, to verify the reason that led these women to perform the cytopathological examination, to analyze the number of positive cases according to year and to identify the ranges most affected age groups. The research consists of a study with documentary, epidemiological, descriptive and quantitative approach with data collected referring to the state of Piaui obtained in the IT department of the Brazilian Unified Health System (DATASUS). The results show the highest prevalence were ASCUS followed by LSIL, with reasonable values of HSIL in relation to benign changes the most incident was inflammation, the great majority of women performed the test as a screening measure, as expected. Most cases occurred in 2019 and 2018, showing that there was negligence in relation to the data for the years 2017, 2016 and 2015, the majority of the women in the study were in the age group of 20 to 44 years. It is unquestionable that cervical cancer is still a public health problem in Brazil. To solve this problem, the country must use strategies to control this disease, both at the institutional level, expanding and structuring the networks of basic units, as well as adopting strategies aimed at adherence and the population's awareness of the need for the exam.
