Résumé
Correction on: Musekiwa T and Murray N (2026) The economic barriers and opportunities for community adaptation to renewable-energy opportunities in coal-dependent regions of Mpumalanga, South Africa: a systematic review. Front. Energy Res. 14:1789733. doi: 10.3389/fenrg.2026.1789733.There was a mistake in Figure 1 as published. [State the error that was made] The total number of studies included in Figure 1 of (studies included in review n=43) is correct, but some of the preceding figures explaining how the final number of 43 was reached have not been revised. Figure 1. There was an omission when I submitted the old table without revising the figures and corrections. The corrected figure 1 appears below. The original version of this article has been updated. The number in this section needs to be corrected to align with Figure 1, as the text is intended to reflect the figures presented in the PRISMA flow diagram.A correction has been made to the section [2.4 Results of the systematic review] "[insert corrected paragraph]" The systematic review process began with the identification of 3,729 papers from selected databases, including ProQuest Central, Sabinet African Journals, and Scopus. A rigorous screening process then eliminated duplicate records (619), papers deemed ineligible by automation tools (2,216), and others excluded for various reasons (810), leaving 108 papers for further evaluation. Follow-up title and abstract screening resulted in the exclusion of 43 papers that did not meet the inclusion criteria, leaving 65 full-text reports for retrieval. However, five reports could not be accessed, reducing the number of full texts assessed to 60. Further review of these full texts led to the exclusion of 17 studies that did not meet the research criteria. Ultimately, 43 papers satisfied all inclusion requirements and were included in the final systematic review. This process is visually represented in Figure 1, the PRISMA flow chart, ensuring transparency and reproducibility. The PRISMA flow diagram (Figure 1) summarises this process. The original version of this article has been updated.End of template.
